""How do you like THEM apples?"" -Raptor |
- Location - Storrs, CT |
- Raptor is Famous For... - My aggressive run & gun style of play, my leadership ability, my experience and technical capability, and most of all my enthusiasm for the game |
- Playing Style - Calculated aggression. Applying speedball techniques to the scenario format |
- More About Me - I'm an interesting character for sure |
- Occupation - Former nuclear plant operator in the Navy, also worked in corporate America as a Fuel Cell plant operator. Now I'm a full time student at the University of Connecticut pursuing a degree in History, and planning on continuing with grad school after completion of said degree |
- Goals - Goals in paintball: To enjoy every aspect of the sport I love. To make those insane "high risk, high reward" runs that make you a legend among your peers, and feared among your opponents. To share the camaraderie and adventure of paintball with my friends, and revel in the fellowship of the tightly knit community of paintball players across the country.
Goal in life: To be the best version of myself that I can possibly be. To push myself to achieve things I never knew were even possible, and to never give up on my hopes and dreams |
- Hobbies - Paintball, basketball, biking, kayaking, hiking, lifting weights and otherwise staying in shape. I also have interest in photography, music/concerts, live sporting events (Red Sox, Patriots), researching various interests (history, nature, science, etc.), movies, and generally making a complete fool of myself |
- Accomplishments - I was honored with an MVP award during the Battle for Malvern Hill, which I remember as a proud moment where I was recognized by my peers for my ability and dedication. I am also proud to say that I was a co-founder and the Captain of Team Enterprise, where I was privileged with the opportunity to play for a few years with some of my best friends |
- Family - I have family, yes |
- Thoughts Prior to the Game - If we're playing a travel game, I round up a couple of guys and walk the field, discussing placement of bunkers or critical field features. Since paintball is such an equipment intensive sport, I spend a great deal of time making sure my gear is good to go, then help anyone else who is having gear issues |
- Equipment - APS Angel 1 w/Magno kit installed APS Booster Bolt Sly Dual Carbon Barrel Kit Pure Energy 68/45 Pinokio Loader Sly carbon fiber grips Empire Contact SE pants Empire eVents goggles APS Gloves/Headband
Backups: Dye DM7, Smart Parts Shocker SFT w/New Designz bolt/can, Bloodwerks bolt guide, Dye Ultra Lite barrels. Velocity Jr loader, and assorted gear that I can't even begin to list. I have officially retired my TIppmann SL68 II |
- Experience - I've been playing paintball for nearly 10 years, starting back in high school with outlaw games in the Maine woods. During my time in the Navy I met up with other paintball players and we started organizing our own games, even building our own private field. Soon we decided to take our play to the next level, and in 2006 we formed "Team Enterprise", a group of sailors from the same ship who all wanted to play as much paintball as possible. That was when we started playing a lot of scenario/big game type events, soon holding our own among other scenario teams. We received some notoriety during this period locally, and after a series of mergers I ended up on Southern Virginia Special Operations in August of 2008. Since then, its been balls-to-the-wall for SoVa all over the east coast! |
- Best thing about Paintball - The friendships formed and strengthened, the technical aspect of the sport, the wide variety of equipment available, playing new and interesting fields all over the country, and the brotherhood of the sport that can only be understood when experienced first hand. There's also that feeling you get when you watch your paint fly from your barrel and break on an opposing player...its almost like magic |
- Memorable Moments - My first game ever playing an outlaw game behind my friend's house in Maine. I was so excited I couldn't sleep that night.
Wearing Team Enterprise's jerseys for the first time at a game and the recognition we received.
Killing two tanks and countless opfor with a JCS Rocket launcher during our trek to Sherwood Forest. I'd never played demo before but that was a heck of a good time.
My memorable flanking then subsequent run-through of 20-25 players at the 2009 Tippmann Extravaganza at EMR. The memory of everyone cheering when I ran up behind the opposing players still gives me goosebumps |
- Best Paintball Memory - SoVa travel games to EMR and Sherwood, where we showed up as nobody's and dominated the playing field |
- Worst Paintball Memory - We've all had our disappointing experiences, but I'm an optimist and love paintball too much to harp on rough spots in the past |
